Frequently asked questions

q & A

1. How old do I have to be to tan?

You must be 18+.

2. What should I wear to tan?

Clients may dress as they please in our lay-down or standing tan beds. Any skin that has never been exposed to ultraviolet light before will be more sensitive. These parts will require slower tanning.

3. Is indoor tanning as effective as outdoor tanning?

Yes, in fact, it can be more effective because you are tanning in a controlled environment. Your skin produces a tan the same way in an indoor tanning salon as it does when you lay out in the sun: through ultraviolet (UV) light. Indoor tanning allows for control over the amount of UV light, for an all-over even tan. With indoor tanning, you can gradually increase your exposure time to avoid sunburn and damage. The results and convenience of an “indoor tan” can be attained year-round, without concerns of prolonged exposure.

4. Can I use outdoor oils and lotions in the tanning bed?

No, you must use a certified indoor tanning lotion.

5. How can I build a base?

We recommend 3 times a week every 48 hours.

6. How long will it take to see results?

The best tan appears on those who tan regularly. Allowing too much time between visits will cause a tan to fade. Results usually appear after the first few sessions. Typically , it takes 6-10 sessions to build a base tan. Once your base tan is built, it only takes one or two sessions a week to maintain your tan year round.

7. How do I keep my tan?

You can keep your tan longer by moisturizing! Healthy skin tans quicker, darker, and typically retains a tan longer. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and to help retain moisture, helping your tan to last longer. Your skin is constantly renewing itself. The dryer your skin is, the faster it wants to shed its top layers and bring new skin to the surface. If you lose the top layers, you lose your tan.

8. How much time should I let pass between tanning sessions?

We recommend allowing at least 2 days in between sessions whenever time allows

9. Is it okay to shower right away after tanning?

Absolutely! Tanning is a process that can take up to 24 hours to develop.

10. Should I use SPF on my lips?

Yes! You should use an SPF on your lips because your lips can tan and will appear darker and rougher.
